e-Residency · annual report

Your e-Residency card may stop working on 9 December 2026. File your annual report before then.

Updated 2 November 2026

On 9 December 2026 the Police and Border Guard Board will revoke the digital certificates of more than 19,000 e-Residency cards. After that date an affected card can no longer be used to log in to e-services or to sign documents digitally. If your company's annual report is still unfiled, finish it while you can still sign it.

Is my card affected?

  • Cards issued between 10 December 2021 and 16 August 2023.
  • Document numbers UA0051053 to UA0076261.
  • Affected holders received a personal notification at the e-mail address given in their application.

All transactions made with the card remain valid. Only the card's digital functions stop.

What to do now

  1. 1.Set up Smart-ID before 9 December with your current card. If you already use Smart-ID, it keeps working after 9 December. After that date an affected card can no longer be used to register Smart-ID on a new device.
  2. 2.Reapply for e-Residency as soon as possible to get a new card. The Police and Border Guard Board recommends this.
  3. 3.File any overdue annual report now. All signing board members sign the report digitally in the e-Business Register – with an e-Residency card, Smart-ID or Mobile-ID.

Why the annual report matters

The 2025 annual report for calendar-year companies was due on 30 June 2026. According to an analysis of the Business Register's open data, on 5 October 2026 about 54,000 companies still had an overdue report. If reports are not filed, the registrar can issue warnings and fines and can start proceedings to delete the company from the register. What happens if you miss the deadline
